Doug made it clear that, while the band wanted to pay homage to the imagery of the original tour, they didn't want to just copy it.

With regards to the Slipperman, he'd been thinking about Mayan masks and stone carvings. I did some of my own research, using that as a starting point.

In the initial sketch ideas I focused on angular, geometric shapes, rather than the softer, more organic design of the original Slipperman.

Doug and Tony (vocalist in 'ReGenesis', and the person who would ultimately be wearing the mask) liked this concept, but were a little concerned that if the angles were too regular, it might look like it was made of Lego. So, in the follow-up sketches, I made the edges and angles less regular, and chipped off the sharp corners.
